Everyone has at least one person in their life that they look up to. It is a person who influences you in your personal life and the decisions you take.

The first person that comes to my mind is my mum, as she has been there from the very first day. She is a loving and caring person who has always taken very good care of me and my education. She proved to be the bravest mum ever as she had to raise me by herself. I think I look up to her because I care about other people and because I think love is the most beautiful feeling to share with our beloved ones.

Secondly, my dad is the other person that comes to my mind as he achieved one of his biggest dreams-being a doctor. My dream is to become a surgeon and follow my dad´s achievements one day. I hope my dream can come true, too, one day!

To sum up, my parents had an important influence in my life as I have learnt a lot from them and I admire both a lot!

Kobe Bryant was a former basketball player of Los Angeles Lakers. He was born on 23rd August 1978, in Pensilvania, United States and died on 26th January 2020, in a tragical helicopter crash.

Bryant made his debut in 1996 at 18 and played 20 seasons for the LA Lakers before retiring. After suffering a torn Achilles tendon in April 2013, Bryant worked hard to return to the court before fracturing his knee just six games into the 2013-2014 season.
Bryant was a titanic figure who inspired a generation of baketball players nationally and internationally. Among his accomplishments, there are five times NBA championships, 17 times NBA All-Stars, 2 times NBA Finals MVP, 2 olympic gold medals, etc.

Unfortunately, he died in a helicopter crash along with his 13-years-old daughter and seven other passengers. A great loss for the NBA family and the whole world, too!

English is an international language that is spoken all over the world and is the official language in England and The United States. Learning English at school is very important, but have you ever asked yourself what do you need to pass English?

Firstly, attendance to classes is essential. If you miss classes, you won´t keep up with the class. Moreover, you have to participate in class and have a positive attitude towards English. What´s more, your behaviour is important, too!

Secondly, you must do your homework everyday and keep your notebook tidy and clean. In addition, you must do all the Compositions you are told to do. Moreover, handing in the digital projects will rise your grade at the end of each term.

To sum up, I believe that English is very important for our future and we should all make an effort to pass it with the highest grade possible.

Comment 15- GOALS, GOALS!!!

Comment 15

Setting goals helps us to choose what we want in our life, where we want to be in the future and what steps we will take. What´s more, it helps us to move forward towards our future professional development.

Every year, we set targets for making progress and developing at school/work. In my situation, every end of the year, I set a few goals for the following year. For example, I always resolve to study hard myself and get the highest grades possible. This year, in particular, I must make a big effort to achieve my goals because my final grades will help me to choose the university I want to attend when I finish school.

Another personal goal that I set for this year is to practise more sports because I like being fit and athletic. Playing football is one of my favourites but this year I´ve decided to sign up in a gym to improve my strength and my physical apprearence.

All in all, I think setting personal goals is an important process for our future, as it motivates ourselves to bring our dreams to reality.

Comment 14- What is your ideal teacher like?

Comment 14

Being a teacher is not an easy job nowadays! Apart from dealing with a large number of students, they also have to deal with the bad behaviour of some of them. But, what would an ideal teacher be like?

On the one hand, an ideal teacher should motivate his students to work hard in class in order to get very good results at the end of the school year. Getting good marks gives us better oportunities to go to a university in the future. Apart from that, an ideal teacher should take into consideration that every student is different and understand that some of them need an extra help in class. He should make students feel comfortable and confident in class.

On the other hand, an ideal teacher is a person who shows his students the path to success; a person who encourages and inspires his students to choose the best things in life! What´s more, school is like a second home so an ideal teacher should be like a second family, giving good pieces of advice to his students and providing confidence.

To sum up, I think an ideal teacher is the one that comes to our mind when we are adults and we are asked about him, because he played an important role in our life as a student.

Comment 13- No more pollution in our cities, please!!!

Nowadays, everybody is talking about the need to save the planet. Despite that, the problems are getting worse all the time, so maybe we should do something about it. For example, pollution is a serious problem to face nowadays.

Firstly, we should all know that air pollution occurs when harmful or excessive gases are introduced into the atmosphere. The use of cars , planes or industrial activities are the main causes of air pollution. Instead of using the car or the plane to travel, we could take a fast train, in order to reduce air pollution. Moreover, public transport is another sollution for air pollution.

On the other hand, the effects of air pollution are alarming. It can cause respiratory problems, such as pneumonia or asthma, heart problems or even cancer. In addition, global warming and acid rain are other direct effects of air pollution.

Granada is a very crowded and polluted city. For instance, people use a lot their cars and motorcycles to move around. In addition, Granada has its own international airport, where lots of planes land and take off.

To sum up, air pollution is extremely dangerous to our health. I believe we should change our lifestyle completely, for instance by using the public transport, bicycles or walking in the city instead of cars or motorcycles. We should all contribute to save the planet and our own health!

Now that the year is coming to an end, it is the perfect time to see all the things I have achieved this year.

To begin with, I have finished the school year with very good grades and I even got a diploma for it. I can say that this was a great achievement for me! Me and my family were very happy about that! In addition, during the summer I´ve been preparing myself for the B2 English exam, which I passed at the end of September. This is another important achievement for me because it will be useful for me when I go to the university.

Apart from that, even if I met my friends during the summer, I wish I had seen them more often but it was imposible because I had to study a lot. I enjoy spending time with my friends!

To end up, this year was pretty good for me as I got very good results at school. I hope next year I will work hard to get the highest grades possible as they are important for my Selectivity final grade.

Christmas is the most special time of the year! It´s the time when all the family gets together and enjoys itself.

At Christmas, we make lots of preparations. To begin with, a few days before Christmas, my mum and I set up a big beautiful Christmas tree full of lights. When Christmas arrives, there are lots of presents underneath the tree. On Christmas Eve, we all go to our granma´s house and have dinner there, and also to receive Santa Claus. My mum usually helps my Grandmother preparing the food and setting the table, so that the house looks cool!

What´s more, when everybody has arrrived, we wish each other ´´Merry Christmas!``, and we all celebrate it singing carols, drinking, eating and even dancing, which is pretty fun!

Finally, when it´s nearly midnight, someone dressed as Santa Claus enters the house singing:´´Ho,Ho,Ho!``, sits in the middle of the living room and gives us presents. All the kids of our family get very excited because they are looking forward to this moment and it´s great looking at them jumping of happiness!

To end up, I enjoy Christmas a lot because I love seeing the whole family together and getting so many presents! Christmas is a very special celebration for me!

Mike´s story: a problem at school

David and I are very good friends. We have known each other since we were 5. He lives in the same village as me and we go to the same school. Actually, we are in the same class. He always lends me his calculator in Maths, but one day something awful happened!

While I was copying something from the board, I pushed the calculator by mistake and it fell on the floor and broke. I couldn´t believe it! I was so embarrassed! What´s more, David saw everything and he looked at me angrily.

At the end of the class, we had an argument and he said he would never talk to me again. Everybody was staring at us! Just then, I apologised and offered to buy him a new calculator.

Finally, he accepted my apologies and he realised that he was definitely exaggerating with his reaction. Moreover, he promised he would never react like that again. I was so happy! If he hadn´t forgive me, I would have felt very sad.

COMPOSITION 05

12th July
Hi Grandpa,

How´s everything there? I haven´t written for a long time because I´ve been very busy with my final exams! It has been hard, but I did very well.

At the moment, I´m on holidays, so I´m just trying to relax- after all, this is the only time I can rest! Anyway, I´ll try to go to the beach with my friends, too. This time next week, I´ll be having my birthday party at the beach. All my friends are invited!

I´m also looking forward to going on my trip to Italy! There, I´m going to visit my aunt and cousins, and we are going to explore the surroundings. We are going to go to museums, to the beach and to a zoo! This will be my first time at a zoo, so I´m really excited! What are your plans for this summer? Are you going to Greece again, this summer?

Say hello to grandma, too. Hope you are all ok. I miss you a lot!

Write soon,
Mihail
