Montserrat Caballé was a Spanish Opera singer who was born on 12th April,1933 in Barcelona and died at the age of 85, on 6th October,2018 in Barcelona. She was a mother of two children, a daughter and a son. Her voice was described as pure but powerful, with a good control of vocal shadings and exquisite pianissimo.
She was known internationally, too. She became popular when she recorded ¨Barcelona¨, a duet with Freddie Mercury which became the official song for the Olympic Games in 1992.
She was a great ambassador of Spain. She won several Grammy Awards and she was nominated for the same award with more recordings. She was honoured with ¨Legion of Honour¨in 2005, ¨Honoris causa doctorate of the Menéndez Pelayo International University¨ in Santander in 2008 and ¨Honoris causa doctorate of the University of Barcelona¨ in 2011.
