Celebrating Christmas: 

      Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, observed most commonly on December 25 as a religious and cultural celebration among billions of people around the world. 
Christmas Day is a public holiday in many of the world's nations, is celebrated religiously by a majority of Christians, as well as culturally by many non-Christians, and forms an integral part of the holiday season. In several countries, celebrating Christmas Eve has the main focus rather than Christmas Day.
The celebratory customs associated in various countries with Christmas have a mix of pre-Christian, Christian, and secular themes and origins. Popular modern customs of the holiday include gift giving, completing an Advent calendar or Advent wreath, Christmas music and caroling, lighting a Christingle, viewing a Nativity play, an exchange of Christmas cards, church services, a special meal, and the display of various Christmas decorations, including Christmas trees, Christmas lights, nativity scenes, garlands, wreaths, mistletoe, and holly. In addition, several closely related and often interchangeable figures, known as Santa Claus, Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, and Christkind, are associated with bringing gifts to children during the Christmas season and have their own body of traditions and lore.

The desert information

The desert introduction:

Hello everybody, I´m Mihail and I´m going to tell you a few things about how deserts are, how´s the temperature there and explain how is living in a desert.

What is a desert?
As we all know, deserts are very dry or arid areas with low vegetation. Deserts cover about one third of the Earth´s land. There are deserts in every continent.

Next, I´m going to tell you a few things about the desert temperature:
Deserts are so dry and their humidity is so low, that they may get very hot during the day and very cold at night. Sand and dust storm are natural events that occur in arid regions where the land is not protected by a covering of vegetation as the desert where I am right now. We classify deserts by the amount of precipitation that falls, by the temperature that prevails, by the causes of desertification or by their geographical location.

Now,I´m going to name the ten largest deserts on Earth:
The ten largest deserts are: the Antarctic desert,the  Artic desert, the Sahara desert, the Arabian Gobi desert, the Patagonian desert, the Great Victoria desert, the Kalahari desert, the Great Basin desert and the Syrian desert.

Living in a desert:
Next, I will tell you a little bit about living in a desert. There are people linving in most of the Earth´s deserts. The Bushmen in Kalahari, the Aborigines in Australia and the tribes of North American Indians, are some of the desert inhabitants. They were originally hunter-gatherers. They used to hunt animals to eat but in the dry season it was hard to find animals for meat so they were eating insects, plants and berries instead. They used to get water from the roots of plants to survive. Other cultures developed a nomadic way of life as herders of sheep, goats,camels, etc. Living in a desert is an extreme living!

Desert typical animals:
Finally, I will talk about some of the desert typical animals: the fennec fox, the scorpion, the rattlesnake or the jerboa are some of the desert animals we can found here.

Weekend weather forecast:

This Friday we´re expecting  rain across southern England and Wales, very high winds in the center and thunder and lightning in the east. In northern England the temperatures are falling and we will see snow  during the night and freezing in the morning. In Ireland, it´s going to be very hot on Friday and Saturday but it will probably rain and fall hail  tomorrow early in the morning. It will be cloudy, windy and cold for most areas on Sunday, except Ireland. For today, the highest temperature will rise untill 31 degrees Celsius in the south of Ireland and we will have sub-zero temperatures in the north of England. We are expecting around 10-15 degrees in the center of England during the whole weekend, freezing in the north and heat wave in Ireland.

What is a volcano?

·         A volcano is  a rupture in the crust of a planetary-mass object, such as Earth, that allows hot lava, volcanic ash, and gases to escape from a magma chamber below the surface.                                                        

How does a volcano erupt?

·         Deep inside Earth, there is a solid body of rock called mantle. When rock from the mantle melts, moves to the surface through the crust, and releases gases, volcanoes erupt. Extremely high temperature and pressure cause the rock to melt and become liquid rock or magma. When a large body of magma has formed, it rises through the denser rock layers towards Earth´s surface. Magma that has reached the surface is called lava.

Which are the volcano´s  eruption consequences?

• Ash discharged very high into the stratosphere can have negative consequences on the ozone layer.
• Landscapes and natural sceneries can be destroyed.
• Ash and mud can mix with rain and melting snow, forming lahars(mudflows flowing at very fast pace).
• Fires and people and animal death.

CELEBRATING HALLOWEEN TONIGHT!!!!

     Halloween is a celebration observed in lots of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows´Day!

  Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching horror films.
