COMPOSITION 09: ''Advantages and disadvantages of living in a rural area''

Composition 09

Living in a rural area may be a dream come true for some people. However, rural life has both positive and negative sides.

On the one hand, there are lots of good things about living in a rural area. For instance, it provides cleaner air which means better breathing and smaller risk of respiratory illnesses. What’s more, you will be more relaxed, so your mental health will improve.

On the other hand, the main problem is that many villages don’t have the necessary facilities, such as good roads, schools, and hospitals. In addition, there aren’t many shops either, so you have to drive a long distance to get to a supermarket. Furthermore, job opportunities are much smaller than in the city.

In conclusion, a rural area is an ideal place to live if you are looking for peace, simplicity and harmony with nature. I prefer living in a city at the moment, but I’m sure that when I get older, I will choose the countryside

Comment 19- Nature could be the solution

Comment 19

Nature plays an important role in our lives. Connecting with nature can have lots of positive health benefits. For example, ecotherapy could be the solution to some mental illnesses.

On the one hand, exposure to nature contributes to our physical and emotional wellbeing, reducing stress and anxiety. Nowadays, more and more people use ecotherapy in order to treat a mental health problem, such as depression.

On the other hand, ecotherapy can take place in both rural and urban places, such as parks, gardens or farms. Moreover, it can include activities that focus on working in nature, such as gardening, or experiencing nature, such as a walking, running or cycling.

In my opinion, ecotherapy can be very useful for us, as it improves self-esteem, depression, stress levels and emotional intelligence.

Comment 08- Listen to Nature

The public awareness campaign, called Nature is Speaking, turns the tables on "saving the planet" and reminds us that it's us humans, not nature, who need saving. ¨Giving nature a voice¨ might make it clear to all of us that the planet will evolve with or without humans, because nature has been around billions of years longer than humans. Are we doing enough to help saving our nature?

Firstly, we all know green spaces bring numerous health benefits. For example, experiences in nature can lead to decreased blood pressure and levels of the stress hormone cortisol, assist with direct attention fatigue, and increase cognitive function. Nature might even buffer the impact of stress.

Secondly, for thousands of years our delicate planet has maintained a perfect balance between land and sea, and provided everything that we, and all the animals that live on it, need. However, warnings about climate change, carbon emissions and our over-use of plastic and waste are to be taken seriously. As a result, many of us are now making an effort to play a part in helping to end the cycle of waste, such as cycling or walking instead of using the car to go to work or to school, recycling our household waste properly or turning off appliances we don’t really need.

In conclusion, our precious planet´s future is looking green as long as we all play a part in helping it get there! All individuals and communities around the world should be taking a stand for future generations and the preservation of human life on Earth.
