Comment 10- Loneliness, isolation, teenagers, sex!!!

       Nowadays, the internet is a common thing. We use Internet for lots of things, such as, searching for information, online shopping, playing games, for chatting, downlading music or watching videos. The problem is that most of the teenagers use Internet for a long time during the day and they isolate themelves from the world. They don´t socialize so much with people, they have fewer conversations with their parents and they don´t make so many friends. This is a serious problem because they get lonely and in the end they might have mental health problems, like depression, which is often accompanied by other symptoms, such as feelings of sadness and guilt, a loss of interest in activities, an inability to concentrate, changes in appetite or sleep, or thoughts of death or suicide.

Loneliness is seen as a big problem for the mental health of the population, people aged between 16 and 24 experience loneliness more often and more intensely than any other age group. Researches on adults and adolescents have shown a connection between loneliness and depression.

I think that parents should have more control over their children about the time they spend on the Internet and the things they see. There are lots of teenagers who watch online porn, which can have negative effects later on their sexual behaviors. Moreover, spending so much time on the Internet has negative effects on our mental health, too.

Comment 09- Dumbphones and plastics

A dumbphone is a simple, old-fashioned style mobile phone which can only make calls and send text messages. A dumbphone is a lot cheaper than a smartphone and its battery can last for weeks. 

Dumbphones are mostly used by old people because they find smartphones very complicated to use. 

I prefer smartphones because I enjoy surfing the Internet or using social media such as Instagram, Whtasapp or Facebook. 

About plastics, I think nowadays there is a serious problem about the use and the decay of the plastic. We are addicted to plastic, we use it in every part of our lives. The problem is that most of it is not biodegradable and it lasts for hundreds of years. Plastics are a real threaten for plants, wildlife, particularly marine animals and even humans.


I think that reducing the use of plastic bags, water bottles, straws or cups is the easiest way to start reducing plastic pollution. Then, we should recycle plastics properly throwing all kind of plastics into the yellow trash bin and reuse plastic items as much as possible if we want to reduce the amount of ¨new¨plastic in circulation.

Comment 08- Gen Z to take over

Generation Z begins from the mid-1990s to mid-2000s and it is defined as a generation of people who have used the Internet from a young age and are comfortable with technology and social media. Nowadays, nearly 77% of young people with ages between 12 and 17 years old, have a smartphone. 

Generation Z is constantly online. They use Internet to search or share any kind of information or to socialize. Therefore, it´s a screen-addicted generation!

In my opinion, being part of the Generation Z has lots of advantages because statistics show that teenagers drink less alcohol, take fewer drugs and are more mentally prepared for life after school.

Comment 07- Snowflakes

      


          The term ¨snowflakes¨ is used to describe young people as "over-sensitive" and "intolerant of disagreement". Calling young people "snowflakes" could damage their mental health. 

Those who reached adolescence around the early 2000s are often referred to as the "snowflake generation". 72% of 16 to 24-year-olds think the term is unfairly applied, while 74% say it could have a negative effect on their mental health. 

In my opinion, the term is unfair and the society should think about the effect that has on young people.

Comment 06- Further into fashion (scumbro)

           

 Scumbro is the hottest trend in men’s fashion and involves looking badly dressed in oversized and overpriced clothing. An abundance of tattoos, some kind of badly dyed hair and a moustache are all good added extras. 

To achieve the scumbro look, you basically have to spend lots of money on buying brands that are inaccessible to most people, like: Supreme, Palace, Gucci, Versace and Prada. Pete Davidson, Justin Bieber, Jonah Hill and Shia LaBeouf are some of the actual ¨scumbros¨.

Fashion has changed a lot lately and there are different kinds of trends. In my opinion, scumbro fashion is really ugly and expensive. I think people should wear clothes that suit them.

 Dear friend,

I´m writing to thank you for your advice about apologising to David. I felt angry when I argued with him the other day and I didn´t want to talk to him anymore. You know how I am when I get angry. But you were right when you told me it was better to apologise. I found that argument between us embarrassing! I felt a little shy at the beginning but finally I called him, I apologized, and I told him that we should be friends again. He apologized, too.

It feels good (it´s great) having David as a friend again! So thank you again for your advice!

Writing 05- A difficult personal experience

       One of my most difficult personal experiences was when I had to move to Spain with my mum and leave my home, my grandparents and my friends. It was really difficult because I was only 5 and I couldn´t speak any Spanish. I felt really lost when I got here because I didn´t know anybody.

The first thing we did was sign up for Spanish classes in the afternoon because I was going to school in the morning. At the beginning I found Spanish very difficult to learn, but now I can speak it very well. Moreover, the teachers helped me a lot because I got on very well with them.

Moving to another country wasn´t easy, but my mum was always telling me to be confident. Now I´m really happy that we came to live here in Spain. I have improved my Spanish a lot and I have lots of friends. Besides, every time we can, we visit our family or they come here to visit us.

Writing 04- A biography of a famous band or artist

     Michael Jackson was an American singer, songwriter and dancer. He was called the ¨King of Pop¨and he was one of the best selling music artists of all times.

Michael made his professional debut in 1964 when he used to sing with his family group called the Jacksons 5 and later in 1971 he began his solo career. In 1980´s, Jackson became a dominant figure in popular music. He used to sing pop music and he popularized the ¨robot¨and the ¨moonwalk¨dances. He had many hits, including ¨Beat it¨, ¨Bad¨, ¨Dirty Diana¨, ¨Scream¨or ¨Black or white¨. ¨Thriller¨ is the best-selling album of all times. He sold over 350 million records worldwide and after more than 40 years as a singer, his career ended when he died in 2009.

In the last few years, after his death, Michael Jackson has been the top-earning dead celebrity with 825 million dollars in 2016.

Jess: Yes, it´s very beautiful. And look at this white skirt. It´s really pretty and it´s my size too. What do you think?
David: Why don´t you try them on?
Jess: Ok! Where are the changing rooms?
David: Over there on the right. Let´s go!
Jess: So what do you think?
David: The skirt fits you very well. How about the top?
Jess: I don´t like the top. It doesn´t fit me very well. It´s too tight!
David: Oh, I see what you mean. What a shame! We can go and see some other shops.
Jess: Yeah, you´re right. I´ll get the skirt and then we´ll see if I can find a top in the next shop.

It's Halloween night!!!

   
    Halloween is a celebration observed in lots of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows´Day!

Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories, and watching horror films.

Writing 02- Diffrences between the first year of secondary school and this year

      In my first year of secondary school I used to study Art, Technology and Music, but this year I don´t study them any more. 

Now I study other new subjects like ITC, which is about the correct use of technology. I still study foreign languages like English and French. The English teacher from the first year is no longer teaching at my school. I´ve got new English, Spanish and Maths teachers.

Now I find subjects more difficult than the first year because there´s more information to study. In the first year of secondary school I used to have more free time and now I don´t.

Comment 5- Virtual or real relationship?

Nowadays there are a lot of people using the dating apps to start a relationship. In my opinion, there are advantages and disadvantages of having a virtual relationship.

One of the advantages of a virtual relationship is that is a good choise for shy people because they can express themselves better than in a face to face relationship. Moreover, people can hide their real identity and be less inhibited when talking to the other person. 

One of the disadvantages of a virtual relationship is that giving personal information like your real name or where you live can be dangerous because you never know what kind of a person is the one you are talking to online. Furthermore, people can lie about their real identity and nowadays there are a lot of virtual abuses. So, we should be very careful! 

I prefer face to face relationships because they involve real emotions, I can see what the other person is like or if we understand each other, if we make a good couple, etc.

Comment 4- Montserrat Caballé

Montserrat Caballé was a Spanish Opera singer who was born on 12th April,1933 in Barcelona and died at the age of 85, on 6th October,2018 in Barcelona. She was a mother of two children, a daughter and a son. Her voice was described as pure but powerful, with a good control of vocal shadings and exquisite pianissimo. 

She was known internationally, too. She became popular when she recorded ¨Barcelona¨, a duet with Freddie Mercury which became the official song for the Olympic Games in 1992. 

She was a great ambassador of Spain. She won several Grammy Awards and she was nominated for the same award with more recordings. She was honoured with ¨Legion of Honour¨in 2005, ¨Honoris causa doctorate of the Menéndez Pelayo International University¨ in Santander in 2008 and ¨Honoris causa doctorate of the University of Barcelona¨ in 2011.

Comment 3- Food and food waste, a big world problem

Nowadays, lots of people throw away a lot of food which could be given to consumption to other people who are starving because of different reasons. We don´t realize that in other countries there are people that can´t buy so much food as us. That´s because they are living in a poor continent or in areas that are affected by wars or drought. 
In my opinion, we don´t value enough everything we have. For this, there are some companies or supermarkets like Tesco in UK which collect food and drink and give it to people who really need it, because thousands and thousands of kilograms of food are wasted around the world.

All in all, I think we should think more about the poor people who are starving around the world and try to do something to help them like donating money or food to ONG´s.

Comment 2- Shopping online

Nowadays, online shopping is a very comfortable way to buy any kind of products like food, clothes, cosmetics, plane tickets, electronic devices, etc. Lots of people use online shopping because this way they waste less time, they can find a big variety of products and because there are better prices than in the stores. 

About myself, even if I like wearing new clothes, going shopping is a nightmare for me. In the future, I´m sure I´ll choose the online shopping instead of store shopping.  There are disadvantages about online shopping, too. You can´t try what you buy, sometimes the products get lost on the way or the online payments are not always secure.

Comment 1- Fashions!!

I´m not a fashion slave but a fashion fan! I prefer wearing comfortable clothes and feeling well with myself even if those clothes are not in fashion. I don´t spend money on buying the latest clothes if I don´t look good in them. Sometimes I buy modern clothes but I´m not obsessed with them. 

In my opinion, it´s more important to feel comfortable with what we wear and make a good impression because that counts a lot in our society. I don´t agree with the people that spend a lot of money on clothes just to be fashionable. 

To sum up, the latest fashion is very expensive and isn´t always beautiful or comfortable!

WRITING 01- Something amazing that happened to me last summer

       Last summer I went on a trip to Italy with my family. We stayed at my aunt´s house and we visited lots of places. We also went to the beach, sailing and snorkeling. After that, we stayed three days in Milan. I celebrated my birthday there. It was incredible!

I did lots of incredible things but the best thing was the visit to the Zoo in Verona. I had never seen so many animals in my life! We spent the whole day visiting around and the most amazing thing that happened to me was the visit to the Safari Park, where we stopped the car in front of a giraffe! I could see its enormous legs in front of our car and, honestly, it was really frightening! I took a lot of pictures of the wild animals walking around our car.

It was the best experience ever!

      Hi Jack,

      Thank you for asking me about my hobbies. I have lots of hobbies, for example, going out with my friends, playing with my video console or playing basketball. But my favourite one is playing football. I always play it in my free time.

At the moment, I´m playing football with my village team. We train three times a week and every weekend we have a match. I enjoy it a lot because I meet new people. I´m very competitive and I like being fit.
