Rafael Nadal is a Spanish professional tennis player currently ranked world No.2, after Novak Djokovic, in men’s singles tennis by the ATP. There is plenty of evidence that Nadal is unstoppable on clay and he proved that again recently, winning his 13th Roland Garros title.
From a very young age, Nadal was passionate about sports and played both football and tennis. His uncle, Toni Nadal, has been his tennis trainer since he was 4. At the age of 8, he won an under-12 regional tennis championship which made his uncle intensify training and encourage him to continue playing tennis instead of football. At age 12, Nadal won the Spanish and European tennis titles in his age group. In 2004, he was a member of the Spanish National Team that won the Davis Cup and a year later, he won his first Roland Garros at the French Open. In 2016, in his hometown of Manacor, Rafa Nadal inaugurated his own academy, where he aims to share everything he has learnt over his career with the young students.
This last Sunday, we could watch Nadal winning his 13th Roland Garros in Paris. With his incredible victory against Djokovic, Rafa has now broken a list of records in the tennis history books. What’s more, he has now equalized Roger Federer’s record of 20 grand slams.
To sum up, Rafael Nadal is one of the best tennis players of the 21st century and is considered a hero because of his tennis achievements. I think he is an excellent example for young sportsmen to determine goals and achieve them. He is a great champion, a master of clay!
